I Have Been Bought with a Price - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
by Sheila Weddle

"Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."

When Adam was in the garden and he gave away the right for God to have an intimate relationship with His man. That is when God began to make a way of redemption.

When Jesus died on the cross the Bible tells us that the veil in the temple was torn in half. That means that there was no longer a barrier to keep God away from His man. Now man can have the Holy Spirit of God living on the inside of him. This is the reason that now our bodies have become the sanctuaries of the living God. Wow what a thought! We are called to have an intimate relationship with our Father God through His Holy Spirit.

You may not have thought about how important it is to keep yourself, your body from sins. In the verses above they are talking about sexual sins and Paul is telling them to shun immorality and all sexual looseness. The reason in 1 Corinthians 6:17, "But the person who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him."

Because you are one with the Lord Jesus protect yourself from taking Jesus into a situation that He nor you should be in.

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service." - Romans 12:1

We should offer our bodies to God as a living sacrifice in that we should take time to pray and praise Him. Sometimes we just don't feel like it, or we are not in the mood, or we don't take the time. That is when the sacrifice comes in to play. We have the privilege of having an on going relationship with the Holy Spirit and to ignore this precious One is a loss to ourselves. Think about what God has done for us. He saved us and lives on the inside of our spirit, we have access at all times.

He said in Hebrews 13:5c (Amplified Bible), "For He God Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let you down relax My hold on you! Assuredly not."

What a promise that He has given.

Confess this out loud, "Thank you for living on the inside of my spirit; thank you for being one with me. I give my body to as a sacrifice every day."

Father I pray for my friends who have made the commitment to give a daily sacrifice of their body to you. Bless and help them to receive your promises that you are always there. In Jesus name. Amen.

To the Glory of God,
